CLEANING ACRYLIC

1.) LESS IS BEST-
Clean the bathing area with a soft cloth and warm water. Rinse thoroughly after cleaning. If necessary to soften water minerals, use a solution of vinegar and water. There is no need to use a scrubbing pad or abrasive cleansers (they will dull the gloss finish).

2.) ACRYLIC IS NON-POROUS-
it will not support the growth of mold or mildew. If you feel you must use a brand-name bathroom cleaner, test it on the skirt before applying it to the entire system. Do not use products with Ammonia-D or aerosol propellants on the acrylic.

3.) ACRYLIC WILL NOT CRACK, CHIP, FADE, OR RUST-Using harsh chemicals will also cause a dull surface and/or an easily recognizable chemical crack. Chemicals that should not be used include, but are not limited to: Shower Kleen, Dow Disinfectant cleaner, Lysol Disinfectant cleaner, Lestoil, Tough Act, acetone, and fingernail polish remover. Using these chemicals, scouring pads, or abrasive cleaners will void the manufacturer's warranty. In extreme cases when the recommended cleaners do not work, try a mild abrasive cleaner such as Soft Scrub or Liquid Comet. Use a soft brush for tubliners with the coated slip-resistant bottom. Review any cleanser's specific instructions and restrictions (especially for acrylic).

4.) ACRYLIC WILL KEEP ITS SHINE-
Another method to produce a maintenance-free bathing area is waxing the walls with a liquid acrylic car wax. This is very beneficial by creating a water repellent surface which keeps the shine much longer and prevents minor scratches. Keep in mind, this same slick surface is not recommended for the slip-resistant bottom however!

5.) ACRYLIC CAN BE REPAIRED- This same routine can be utilized for light scratches or abrasions with the Novus repair kit (from Liners Direct) or Mirror Glaze Professional Formula #17, which is a product generally available at local automotive stores. If trying another polishing wax or compound, as with any other non-listed cleaner, test it in a corner of the skirt and follow the manufacturer's instructions.

If necessary to clean the drain, bail out the standing water, remove the drain plug, and use a liquid drain cleaner. To prevent spills, apply the cleaner directly into the drain through a funnel. Make certain the chemical does not spill and contact with the
acrylic surface, for this reason it is not recommended to utilize a
powder or crystal drain cleaner. Use liquid drain cleaners sparingly,
so they do not boil out and ultimately destroy the acrylic surface.

To remove the drain plug:

1. Push it down to the closed position
2. Turn the knob counterclockwise and remove it, exposing a brass peg
3. Carefully turn the peg counterclockwise with pliers
and remove it along with the drain plug
4. Remove any obstacles clogging the crossbar
To reinstall, reverse steps 1-4.
